The Imperial President: Obama Claims, ‘Where I Can Act on my Own Without Congress, I’m Going to do so.’
January 15, 2014 By Todd Cefaratti
President Obama operates more and more as a king and less and less as an elected leader, accountable to the people.Speaking in North Carolina on Wednesday, Obama announced (again) that he would rule on his own if need be. Discussing the extension of unemployment benefits, Obama stated,“So Congress should do the right thing and extend this vital lifeline for millions of Americans. Of course, that’s just short term. Long-term, the challenge of making sure everybody who works hard can get ahead in today’s economy is so important that we can’t wait for Congress to solve it. Where I can act on my own without Congress, I’ m going to do so.”This is unsettling. More and more during his second term, the brash president has declared that he can operate without Congress on important issues. The president already signed 23 new, executive orders concerning gun control in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Shooting. Late last year, he signed two more concerning information-sharing amongst federal agencies that violate current healthcare privacy laws.Obama has all but done away with deportations in clear violation of existing immigration laws and he refused to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act to the Supreme Court. And, of course, the president continually tweaks and revises Obamacare, delaying mandates and unilaterally changing the law after it has been passed, despite him claiming that Obamacare is the settled “law of the land.”This is not the workings of a presidency, but of a dictatorship.Emperor Obama operates with both a Plan “A” and a “Plan B.”
